How to arrive

It is said that the Maraú Peninsula is hard to arrive to, but ever harder to leave. And it really makes sense...

The bumpy access is in fact the main reason why this paradise is still so preserved, peaceful, safe and unexplored.

Here are our recommendations on how to get here.

Coming from Ilheus with transfer

The easiest option is to fly to Ilheus and then take a airport transfer directly to Dreamland.

Ilheus (IOS) is the closest airport, located 120 kms away from Dreamland.

We can arrange the airport transfer for you. The driver will meet you on arrival and take you to our doorstep. The trip takes around 2-3 hours.

Coming from Ilheus with car

If you are considering renting a car and drive by yourself, please have in mind that the last 44 kms are on unpaved dirt roads, which in periods of heavy rain, or lack of maintenance can get quite complicated.

We always recommend to rent a tall car, preferably 4x4 driven.

Road description:

Head north on the BA 001 in direction of Itacaré. Right before arriving in Itacaré there is a roundabout, where you turn left in direction of "Camamu" and "Salvador via Ferry Boat". Another 15 kms ahead, before Camamu, there is another roundabout, where you are going to turn right and enter on the dirt road BR 030 in direction of Maraú. There are road signs leading to Dreamland along the way.

On the bumpy dirt road keep going straight for around 38 kms, before you turn right in direction of Barra Grande (there are roadsigns) – and just 500 meters ahead you are going to turn left.

Dreamland is located on the SECOND entrance of Taipu de Fora, so when you see the first entrance continue straight for around 1,5 kms, before you turn right.

Then go straight for around 2 kms and you´ll find us beach front, next to pousada Recanto da Sereia, also known as "Jorge Leite".

Coming from Salvador - taxi option

Another option is to fly to Salvador (SSA), which is a bigger international airport with more daily flights and also often cheaper tickets.

But even though it looks very close on the map to the Maraú Peninsula, it is quite far. The journey will probably take you around 6-8 hours, depending on the traffic and the conditions of the road.

We can arrange the transfer for you. Here are the options:

  • Salvador - Dreamland

  • Salvador - Camamu

  • Bom Despacho - Dreamland

  • Bom Despacho - Camamu

If you choose to go to Camamu, you will find the speed boat company "Camamu Adventury" which has speed boats to Barra Grande every hour. The speed boat takes 40 minutes and costs around R$ 25,00 per person.

(Remember that the last speed boat leaves at 17:00, so it is good to arrive before this!)

Next to the pier in Barra Grande you can take a taxi to Dreamland in Taipu de Fora – next to "Jorge Leite". Takes around 15 minutes and costs R$ 60,00.

Coming from Salvador - bus option

The most economical and adventurous way, is actually a lot easier than what it sounds like:

First take a ferry boat from Salvador to Bom Despacho (Itaparica Island). There are ferry boats crossing the bay every hour. It is good to start the trip early.

From Bom Despacho you take a bus to Camamu (takes around 5 hours). "Aguía Branca" is the best and most precise company.

Right next to the bus station in Camamu, you find the speed boat company "Camamu Adventure" which has speed boats to Barra Grande every hour. The speed boat takes 40 minutes and costs around R$ 25,00 per person.

Next to the pier in Barra Grande you can take a taxi to Dreamland in Taipu de Fora – next to "Jorge Leite". Takes around 15 minutes and costs R$ 60,00.

Just remember that you have to arrive in Camamu before 17 hs, because that is the time of the last speed boat.
